Kinesiology (kin-easy-ology) means the study of motion. In the late 1960's an American Chiropractor, Dr George Goodheart DC, developed a new concept, based on a number of older Chiropractic ideas, adding new information that he had discovered himself. He called this new modality "Applied Kinesiology". It was the study of how the body works, using "muscle testing" as a feedback process. In particular, the study of how muscles act and coordinate to move the body. In the natural health field, Kinesiology uses muscles to monitor stress and imbalance within the body where 'Muscle Testing' is used for detecting and re-balancing. These imbalances may relate to emotional stress, nutrition or allergies, learning problems, injuries or pain.
