Happy memories are one thing I am willing to work for

I had the pleasure of having family visiting me at the weekend and I found it interesting to observe how the kids all interacted and how inevitably us parents acted with our own kids and it just made me think of what I want for my children.

I think most parents can say with their hands on their heart that they love their kids. But what does that mean exactly? I don’t even believe you need to think too much about it, I believe it just means that you wish only the best for your child/children.

To me it means I want to give my kids the best memories ever, without getting to over-the-top. It is not about the things they have but the emotions connected with this time of their lives. I would like for them to remember how we had those special moments of closeness, the fun, the giggles and how they were always encouraged to do the best they can in every aspect of their lives, not forcing them to achieve things for the sake of it! Just because I didn’t become a fire fighter does not mean I have to push them into becoming one.

All parents have their own idea of what they want for their children, I would like to think I can stay out of their way and allow them to create their own path. Is this possible? Only time will tell!
